Super Eagles players will be entitled to match wages known as match bonuses for every win during the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) billed to take place in Ivory Coast beginning from 13 January 2024.
In previous editions of the AFCON tournament, in every group stage fixture, if the Super Eagles get a win, they receive a certain bonus money which is reviewed as the team continues to progress in the competition.

Before we get to know how much Super Eagles players will receive as their match bonus in AFCON 2023, let us first delve into how much they were paid in the most recent edition of the competition.
Super Eagles players wages in AFCON 2021
Super Eagles players received a match bonus of $5,000 each for every match won in the group stage of the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Led by interim coach Augustine Eguavon, the Eagles won all three matches of the group stage against Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea Bissau. They eventually got knocked out by Tunisia in the round of 16.
Senegal went on to beat Egypt on penalty shootouts in the final to win their first AFCON trophy.
Super Eagles players were paid $15,000 each as bonus two months after the 2021 AFCON came to an end.
How much will Super Eagles players receive in AFCON 2023?
Super Eagles players will get a certain amount of money as match bonuses during their group A campaign in the AFCON 2023 event in Ivory Coast.
However, as at the time of writing, this revelation has not been made. As such, we don't know the amount, but we will update as soon as we get the Super Eagles players bonus money for AFCON 2023.
How much Super Eagles will get if they win AFCON 2023
Super Eagles players are aiming to win a fourth African Cup of Nations title for Nigeria in the 34th edition of the competition billed to take place in the Ivory Coast.
In an earlier report, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), announced a substantial 40% increase in prize money for the upcoming AFCON.
Ahead of the competition which is set to kick off on January 13th, CAF took to its website to release a statement about the prize money.
According to the report, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will take home US$7 million if they emerge winners of the competition, that's over N6 billion on current exchange rates.
Buoyed by this, the Nigerian team along with the rest of the 23 teams in the competition, are motivated in their quest to make a significant impact in the tournament with the stakes raised so high.
Other AFCON money rewards
For the runner-up, the prize money also witnessed an increase, with US$4 million set aside for them. Meanwhile, teams that made the semifinals will get US$2.5 million.

And not only that, teams that qualified for the quarter-finals have their rewards as well, with US$1.3 million earmarked for each of them.
This is a notable increase in the AFCON prize money which reflects a commitment from CAF to recognise and reward excellence on the football pitch, and will also help the respective Federations grow and develop football in their regions.
While the tournament kicks off on January 13th with hosts battling Guinea Bissau at the beautiful Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, Nigeria will face Equatorial Guinea in its opening match 24 hours later at the same venue.
