30-Man Ballon d’Or 2019 Shortlist To Be Revealed Today

France Football will announce a 30-man Ballon d'Or shortlist today with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Virgil van Dijk among the favourites for the top gong.

The most coveted individual prize in football – won last year by Real Madrid star Luka Modric – is again up for grabs.

Modric broke the decade long Messi-Ronaldo duopoly, and Van Dijk is the man tipped to beat them to the prize again this year.

The Liverpool was crowned UEFA Player of the Year in August, with Messi named FIFA's The Best Men's Player the following month.

Is it possible that Ronaldo, the UEFA Nations League winner, will end the year empty-handed?!

France Football have not confirmed the date, or venue, for the 2019 Ballon d'Or ceremony, but early December is very likely.
