AFCON 2019: Rohr Rules Out Uzoho As Number One Goalkeeper

Nigeria’s national team coach, Gernot Rohr has come out to lament his worries over the inactivity of Francis Uzoho and has sent a goalkeeper trainer to Cyprus to work on the Deportivo La Coruna loanee before the start of the Super Eagles training camp by the first week of June in Asaba.

Uzoho has featured only once for his club in the last three months, lasting only 23 minutes on the pitch before being sent off in a 3-0 win vs Alki Oroklini on April 1.

The German football tactician has refused to play Uzoho as his first-choice goalkeeper in the forthcoming Nations Cup and even insinuated that the goalie may struggle to make the squad as one of the three goalkeepers on the 23-man roster.

Osasu Obayiuwana asked the Super Eagles coach if Uzoho has a chance of being the starting goalkeeper at the AFCON, here is what Rohr had to say: ‘’I have sent Enrico Pionetti, my goalkeeper trainer, to Anorthosis, to work on him.
