The opening match of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 tournament had us on the edge of our seats until the last minute. In an interesting turn of events, it was the hosts who emerged victorious thanks to a last-minute penalty by Ezzalzouli Abdessamad. The Osasuna forward fired the host nation to victory with two second-half goals, after they trailed at the midway point of the match. Given that there are a fair few games left to play in this competition, we would like to provide a fixture guide for the U23 AFCON competition.

U23 AFCON 2023 Format

First of all, it's important to note that there are two total groups containing eight teams; and these teams will meet each other in a round robin format, with the top two sides going through at the end of the group stages. That said, there will be two days of matches followed by a day of rest, and this will continue until the end of the competition.
