Former Nigerian forward, Jonathan Akpoborie has revealed that football matches in Europe have been greatly missed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in the world.
The virus which has infected more than 353,331 people and claimed 15,408 lives globally, has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization(WHO).
Coronavirus has grounded European football to a halt and infected some players who have come in close contact with those infected with it.
The former Wolfsburg striker told Goalball that the football has been greatly missed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
“Football which has been one of the most followed religions in the world has been made to come under suspension due to the deadly coronavirus,” Akpoborie told Goalballlive.com
“As you can see, football activities have been grounded in Europe and a few players have been infected with the virus, which is not a good thing for us.
“I am worried but I think World Football has taken the right decision to suspend football for the interest of everybody.

”This is indeed a tough time for football and I know things will return to normal very soon.”
