Throughout Mikel Arteta’s time in charge, he has mostly used Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a left-winger.
A willing runner, Aubameyang has adapted to the position well, scoring regularly under Arteta.
But his best performances for Borussia Dortmund came as a centre forward and many Gunners fans believe he should again play through the middle.
In last weekend’s victory over Sheffield United, and for the first time under Arteta, Aubameyang moved into a central role after Nicolas Pepe was introduced for Eddie Nketiah midway through the second half.
Arsenal soon netted two excellent goals and went on to win the match.
And several fans claimed Aubameyang’s move into the centre forward position was the reason why.
On Twitter, YoungBull said: “This is why you play Aubameyang in CF with two actual wingers”. Meanwhile, Mikel Keshani argued: “Aubameyang at CF doing more effective link up play in 5 minutes than Lacazette has since 18/19.”
