After a FIFA Women’s World Cup outing where the prolific Super Falcons striker led Nigeria to the second round, she is back at her club preparing for the upcoming season.

Barcelona Femeni took on Club América in their first game in the pre-season tie, and it was far from an easy stride. The European champions received a good test from their Mexican opponents.

It showed that women's football is not exclusive to Europe as the Liga MX proved their mettle.

Two goals in each half, with Asisat Oshoala playing a vital role in one, was enough to settle the tie.

The atmosphere was electric, with Barça enjoying early domination. In a fast counterattack led by Dragoni and Asisat Oshoala, the Nigerian star slipped the final ball to Claudia Pina, who tucked it into the net.

The first half petered off as it approached its end, but the excitement was still evident.

A close second half

The second half resumed with both sides making massive changes to their teams. It was an almost entirely different team that strode out. Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas came on in the second half.

Club América came close to getting the leveller, but the post was between the North American side and a goal.

With the game still evenly contested, the Catalan side wrapped up the game inside injury time.

Young Judit Pujols made sure of the tie as she hit a rocket that was beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.

Asisat Oshoala did not play the 90 minutes, as she returned to the bench in the second half.

Oshoala also featured in the 5-0 Joan Gamper Trophy win over Juventus. However, she was not on the scoresheet for the European champions.
