Nigeria Super Falcons star player Asisat Oshoala has won a record sixth African Women’s Player of the Year Award.

The Barcelona Femeni striker beat South Africa’s Thembi Kgatlana and Zambia’s Barbara Banda to the award in a ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday night.

Oshoala played a major role in Barcelona Femeni’s UEFA Women’s Champions League success last season.

The 27-year-old Super Falcon also starred for Nigeria in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup where the country's women's team only fell to England on penalties in the Round of 16.
