Bafana Bafana vs Algeria: players to watch
These are a few players you should keep an eye out for when Bafana Bafana and Algeria go toe-to-toe with each other:
Baghdad Bounedjah
Although Algeria failed to make it past the group stages of AFCON 2023, Baghdad Bounedjah did his best, scoring three times in three group games.
Interestingly, he has not been able to find his scoring boots since he returned to Al Sadd after the Nations Cup.
Bounedjah is now without a goal in his last seven appearances for club and country. He'll hope to get back to scoring ways on Tuesday.
Amine Gouiri
By this time last year, Amine Gouiri had not earned his first cap for Algeria. As a matter of fact, he represented France's youth teams up until June last year.
While Gouiri took part in Algeria's 2026 World Cup qualifiers, he was left out of the team's AFCON 2023 squad.
That said, the Stade Rennais player has been in sensational form lately, as he was directly involved in at least one goal in his last four appearances for club and country.
Gouiri opened the scoring in Algeria's hard-fought 3-2 victory over Bolivia a few days ago, his first goal for the country. He'll fancy his chances against Bafana Bafana.
Ricardo Goss
Another player to watch is Supersport United's Ricardo Goss. The 29-year-old was on the bench for the entirety of AFCON 2023, as Bafana Bafana won bronze.
He was also called up for the teams March friendlies, and got the start instead of Ronwen Williams.
Unfortunately, Goss failed to impress, as he conceded twice. He has not been able to keep a clean sheet in his last 21 appearances for club and country (Goss' last clean sheet was in September last year). It'll be fascinating to see if he can make a statement against a tough Algeria side.
