Former Nigerian defender, Waidi Akanni believes Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun is gradually regaining his best form since joining Wigan at the January transfer.
Balogun, who is on loan at Wigan from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion started the game in the team's 1-0 win over West Brom at the weekend.
He was replaced in the 69th minute by Kal Naismith after picking an injury.
Having played five league games for the Latics, the former Mainz star appears to be enjoying a new lease of life under manager, Paul Cook.
Reacting to his performance, Akanni told GoalBall that Balogun's decision to leave Brighton on loan for Wigan has paid off for him.
“I am pleased to see Leon Balogun playing regular football with Wigan in the Championship. It is better than just sitting on the bench and not having a taste of the action, ” Akanni told Goalballlive.com.
“His performance against West Brom shows you that he's back at his best again. His movement with or without the ball is another thing that excites me as a defender.

“Generally, I think the games he has played so far will boost his morale and send a message to the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr that he's eager to reclaim his shirt in the team ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone on March 27.”
