Barca’s Alexia Putellas Wins UEFA Women’s Player Of The Year

Barcelona feminine captain, Alexia Putellas has been recognized as UEFA's Best Female player for the 2020/2021 season. 

The Spanish winger saw off competition from teammates Jenni Hermoso and Like Martens to bag the individual award.

The player from Mollet del Vallès was the most voted player in a jury made up of eight technicians (from the eighth-finalist teams of the Champions League), twelve coaches (from the best powers in the UEFA ranking) and twenty specialized journalists chosen by the ESM among whom is BRAND.

In a recorded video, Putellas showed her happiness for the award. “I want to thank the teammates who also made last year's successful season possible.”

“This has been won by the whole team, the whole club, it is a success that there are so many nominees and winners from Barça. Also, thank the fans that have supported me always and tell them that we are going for more.”

Winning the award became imperative following for Alexia Putellas due to her stellar performance in Barcelona's triumph in the UEFA Champions League and the La Liga last season.

Putellas scored 19 league goals last term, 2 in the UEFA Champions League and 2 for the Spanish Female national team making a total of 23 goals.
