Barcelona legend Xavi says former teammate Lionel Messi could carry on playing football until he is almost 40 and will want to play in the next World Cup
The 32-year-old Messi is showing no signs of weariness having won 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League titles during his time at Barcelona, many of those playing alongside Xavi.
“He's still got five or seven very good years left in him,” the former Spain international said of Messi during an Instagram chat with Samuel Eto'o.
“He takes good care of himself and he can keep playing until he's 37, 38 or 39. He'll play at the Qatar World Cup, I'm sure.”
The World Cup winner is a legend at the Nou Camp and has been linked with a return to the Catalan club as manager.
Currently at Al Sadd, the Argentine’s former Barcelona teammate Xavi admitted he held talks earlier this year before Quique Setien took over.
Should he end up managing at Barcelona then Xavi will likely still have the six-time Ballon d'Or winner to help him out.

To increase his chances of success, even more, the former midfielder says he would also like to see a Neymar return.
