Bayern Munich beat PSG on Sunday to become Champions League winners for a sixth time in their history.
And the showdown in Portugal proved why Manchester United should pursue both Kingsley Coman and Thiago Alcantara this transfer window.
There’s a sense the pair could be set to leave the Bundesliga titans behind for a new adventure.
Thiago has been a consistent performer ever since his move from Barcelona in 2013.
And, against PSG, he was the slickest operator in the Bayern midfield.
He completed the most passes out of any player on the pitch, managing 75 throughout the course of the 90 minutes and also the most attacking passes in the final third.
Overall he had a 88 per cent passing accuracy, despite often having PSG pair Ander Herrera and Marquinhos snapping at his heels.
United’s midfield obviously is well-stocked these days, but Thiago would offer them something more. He’s like a Michael Carrick in the middle of the park with his range of passing particularly impressive.
Another player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side should pursue is Bayern matchwinner Coman, who has sparked interest at Old Trafford with an agreement for Jadon Sancho currently looking impossible to complete.
And the France international proved against PSG that he would be a brilliant alternative for United as they look to win the Premier League title next season.
Coman was a menacing presence in attack, with his pace causing PSG problems on the left flank.

But whether Ed Woodward chooses to pursue the pair remains to be seen.
