Brazil Beat Spain To Retain Olympic Gold Medal In Men’s Football

Brazil have emerged winners in the Tokyo 2020 men’s football as they see out the game and beat Spain 2-1 to win the gold medal.

They are back-to-back Olympic Champions; first in Rio 2016 and now Tokyo 2020.

They become just the fifth nation to retain gold medals in Olympic men’s football.

Over the course of the game Brazil were probably the better team.

They created the best chances in the first half before Matheus Cunha opened the scoring and Richarlison missed a penalty.

Spain responded with a belting volley from Mikel Oyarzabal in the second half.

Substitute Malcom is the matchwinner as his extra time goal retained the gold medals for Brazil.

It was a cracking game and a brilliant result for Brazil. They take gold, Spain win silver and yesterday Mexico took home the bronze medals with their win over Japan.
