With the African Cup of Nations – AFCON 2023 – fast approaching, the continental football governing body CAF has set in motion several innovations to ensure a hitch-free tournament.
CAF has launched an online ticketing platform for fans to purchase tickets for the TotalEnergies AFCON 2023.
The innovation is the first in Africa, which allows fans to avoid a last-minute rush by buying their tickets ahead of the tournament.
The online ticketing platform is designed to attract football fans from across the continent and beyond for the continental tournament.
AFCON 2023 tickets to go on sale at the weekend
For the fans who want to be in Ivory Coast for AFCON 2023, they can now easily make their arrangements by buying their tickets online.
The online ticketing platform will see sales begin on November 11.
However, the first phase of the online sales will be open exclusively to VISA payment card holders.
Public sales will go live Two days later.
AFCON 2023 will see matches played in the Ivorian cities of Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro and Yamoussoukro.
The latest innovation comes after the successful launch of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League.
CAF has hailed the dedicated and fully functional platform as user-friendly.
It was developed on the CAF website to create a pleasant and seamless fan experience for interested persons.

Praise for AFCON 2023 ticketing platform
CAF is committed to presenting a memorable AFCON 2023 tournament.
With the latest innovation, General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba said CAF was committed to creating access to thousands of football fans travelling to Cote d’Ivoire to watch the event next year.
They also want to ensure that Ivorians have easy access to the competition.
Omba praised the online ticketing platform, claiming it would enhance the fan experience at AFCON 2023.
Omba also lauded the support from the stakeholders, saying it was great.
He hopes CAF can meet the fans' and general public's aspirations and demands.
According to Mosengo-Omba, 25% of the group stage tickets will be available as fans look to secure their place at AFCON 2023.
Reports suggest a heightened interest in the tournament next year.

The cheapest ticket is 5,000 FCFA ($8 – US). The price is for Category Three.
For Category Two, a fan would need to fork out 10,000 FCFA ($16 – US), while Category One goes for 15,000 FCFA ($24 – US).
However, there is a restriction to the number of AFCON 2023 tickets that can be bought per household, as CAF aims to stamp out black market sales.
Each household can only purchase six tickets.
