Chelsea are the hosts of this game and the home advantage they will enjoy in the start of a new era will push them to get the first goal. Their hosts will fight back to seal all three points, however, but it will be a battle that both sets of fans will appreciate as an excellent season opener.

With the exception of Bayern Munich and Greuther Fürth, Liverpool won all their pre-season matches. They also seem to have found their scoring boots once again, with none of their matches seeing them score less than three goals. The Premier League is different, however, and they will be toned down by a resolute Chelsea defence who they will battle to take all three points from.
