Rivers United made the trip to the Stade Hammadi Agrebi on Wednesday, as they clashed with Club Africain. After winning the reverse fixture a couple of weeks ago, Stanley Eguma's troops were expected to hold their own against Club Africain on the road.
However, things didn't go as well as they had hoped, as the Nigerian outfit suffered a 3-0 loss in their fourth CAF Confederation Cup fixture.
Disappointing result for Rivers United
We would like to point out that Club Africain came into this match after back-to-back 1-0 losses. This is in contrast with Rivers United, who had won four of their previous five matches. Although the hosts were the favourites to win, Rivers United were expected to put up a better fight than they did on Wednesday.
It didn't take long for the Nigerian side to fall behind; as Kingsley Eduwo opened the scoring for the hosts in the sixth minute. While Rivers United tried to get back on level terms, they were unable to register a shot on target in the first half.
Just before the half-time whistle, Kingsley Eduwo found the back of the net once more, doubling his team's lead. Although Rivers United registered four total shots in the first half, none of those went on target. Interestingly, two of Club Africain's three first half shots went on target, both of them were goals.
Things didn't get better for the visitors in the second half, as Rami Bedouin got on the scoresheet for Club Africain, ensuring his team would go home with all three points.

Where this result leaves Rivers United on the table
It's worth mentioning that three teams were in a three-way tie after the first three rounds; as Rivers United, Club Africain and Dreams FC accumulated six points from their first three respective matches. On the other hand, Academica do Lobito were last on the Group C table, with three losses from three.
Interestingly, Dreams FC defeated Academia earlier today, firing their way to the top of the table. With their loss today, Rivers United now find themselves in third place. They've amassed six points from four matches. On the other hand, Club Africain's victory will move them to the top of the table. They have as many points as second-placed Dreams, but are ahead on goal difference. There are still two rounds of matches left to play, so Eguma's men will need positive results from those matches in order to salvage their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
