#DapoAbiodunCup Day 5 Wrap: Sunshine Stars seal semifinal spot as MFM, Niger Tornadoes bows out

Sunshine Stars bagged the remaining semifinal slot of the ongoing Dapo Abiodun Pre Season Cup in Ijebu-Ode after a draw against MFM FC.

After a barren first half, Lagos based MFM drew the first blood on the hour mark via a sublime finish from Ojo Quadri who placed a well take shot past Mustapha Lawal in goal.

The Akure Gunners bounced back shortly after. It was a premium counter-attacking football from Sunshine Stars who restored parity after going down earlier.

Olasupo Samson took the final pass of the well played counter, to slot the ball home and made it his third goal of the tournament.

In other news, it was an inconsequential tie as 2019 Aiteo Cup runners up, Niger Tornadoes, got the better of Ottasolo by 3-2 to snatch their only win of the tournament.

It was quite an interesting first half as both teams wanted to leave the tournament with a win despite not winning anything ultimately or stand a chance of advancing to the next round.

Ahmadu Liman opened scoring for Niger Tornadoes with a fine strike in the 20th minute before former MFM FC defender, Adeyinka Najeem, doubled their lead with a stunning strike from the right.

Ottasolo would comeback into the game but it was for a short while. Ifeanyi Ogba reduced the deficit for Ottasolo FC in the 39th minute before David Nnaji made it 3-1 to Niger Tornadoes just before halftime.

Ottasolo FC fought hard to level the scoring but could only get a spot kick in the 90th minute, which was converted by Tomola Megba as the game ended 3-2 to the Tornadoes.
