Super Eagles’ snub driving Dessers performance at Feyenoord, agent claims

Dessers

One-cap Super Eagle Cyriel Dessers, has been in fine form for Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam since joining them in the summer on loan from Belgian Club KRC Genk.

He has been a substitute striker for the Rotterdammers since joining them, with only four starts in the league. However, he has been impressive for the club and has scored 12 goals in 28 appearances so far for them, all off the bench.

He recently popped up with the match winner against PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie to help his side remain in third place as they fight for the Eredivisie title and a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

His performances at club level, however, have failed to impress the handlers of the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, as they continue to snub him for friendlies and qualifier games, as well as the 2021 African Cup of Nations held in January in Cameroon.

Dessers wants to play for Super Eagles

Dessers, who switched nationalities from Belgium to Nigeria in 2018, still harbours hopes of playing for the Super Eagles. However, the snub from the national team continues to deny his talents and his agent has claimed that it has only made him better.

“He is obviously disappointed but not allowing it to affect his club form,” the striker's agent said in an interview with local media.

“He has a strong desire to be a part of the Nigerian team and he knows that if he keeps scoring, then it's possible. That's his mentality for now.”

Dessers is on loan at Feyenoord for only the 2021/22 season. The Dutch Club have the option of making his move permanent in the summer for €4 million.

No reports on the possibility of this move happening have being released. However, his agent and the player remain optimistic of sealing a move to the Dutch giants.

Moses Simon agent sends warning to Newcastle ahead of summer transfer move

Elsewhere, Nantes FC forward Moses Simon is on the radar of Newcastle United and his agent has warned the Premier League club to be ready for the financial implications of the signing.

The in-demand forward will not be allowed to leave Nantes for cheap according to his agent who is working on a potential move for the winger to the Premier League.

Newcastle, with other clubs, are interested in the forward who has become a key player for a side who have moved from a relegation battle last season to contention for European places this season.

Simon's three goals and seven assists for Nantes in the French Ligue 1 this season has played a key role in their rejuvenated fortunes. This record also saw him become the first Nantes player to record six or more assists in the club's Ligue 1 history.

The Magpies have been told that it would cost upwards of £25 million to sign Simon from Nantes.

The agent also specifically claimed that the fee could go as high as £40 million if Nantes manage to get their way regarding some clauses which they plan to insert in any transfer dealings for the player.
