The 35-year-old goalkeeper was a little hesitant at first because of his family, but the outlet claims he’s getting support to move to England and join the English side.
Leaving Eibar was also said to be weighing wearily on Riesgo’s decision, but the La Liga club has also been helpful so he can take this opportunity.
Diario Vasco writes that Riesgo’s signing was recommended by Manchester City goalkeeping coach Xabier Mancisidor, and then analysed by assistant manager Mikel Arteta.
The player is required to join the squad to offer the other goalkeepers more experience.
The article claims that Pep Guardiola’s side has been ‘accelerating’ for the signing since they will soon commence the preseason.
