Six managers have been identified on Everton’s shortlist as they look to find a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, according to The Athletic.
The Italian jetted away from Goodison Park for Real Madrid yesterday but The Toffees have quickly compiled a shortlist, which includes some fascinating names.
The Athletic are claiming that Steven Gerrard, Rafa Benítez, Roberto Martínez, Erik ten Hag, Paulo Fonseca and David Moyes are all on the list.
Some of these will be significantly harder to hire than others.
For example, Benítez seems like a straightforward appointment, as he is currently unemployed after leaving Dalian Yifang.
Impressively, the Spaniard has won 536 games as a manager.
However, IMO, he might not want to tarnish his links to Liverpool.
Fonseca is also unemployed. Other than him and Benítez, the rest will surely be difficult to lure to Merseyside.
Moyes is flying high at West Ham, as too is Gerrard at Rangers, while Ten Hag recently signed a new contract with Ajax.
Martínez has told friends he’s looking forward to quitting his job as Belgium manager after EURO 2020.

However, Tottenham and Barcelona are eyeing his services, so the ex-Everton boss might prove too hard to re-appoint.
