Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye has denied reports circulating in the social media that the team's technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has released the names of players who would prosecute the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone in Asaba.
Rohr, who is still expected to submit his team list in the first week of March to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has not made any list public.
Recall that the Super Eagles will host the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State on March 27 as they bid to maintain their unbeaten record in Group L, where they have won all two of their matches against Benin and Lesotho.
In a chat with Goalball, Ibitoye stated that the German tactician has not made public the Super Eagles list of players that would confront Sierra Leone.
He appealed to football-loving Nigerians to ignore the false list and wait patiently till next month (March) when the Super Eagles squad list will be released.
“It's so sad that some people will sit in the comfort zone of their house to make public the Super Eagles list that will face Sierra Leone in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier,” Ibitoye told Goalballlive.com.
“This is just a way of creating some element of distractions to the team and I don't think that will work.
”Gernot Rohr knows the players he wants to invite for the game against Sierra Leone and he will release the list of players at a due time.
