Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Aymeric Laporte and Kevin de Bruyne are back in training but will be assessed on Wednesday before the Premier League fixture with Arsenal.
De Bruyne has missed the last two City matches after picking up an issue in the Carabao Cup final, while Laporte hobbled out of the Champions League first-leg win at Real Madrid.
Ahead of the rearranged game with Arsenal, Pep confirmed both players were back in training – but will be assessed before the match.
Here’s what he said: “Let me think. Laporte, Kevin training last two days. I don’t know if they will be able to play tomorrow. We’ll have another session tomorrow and the rest will be okay.”
The City boss was also asked about Leroy Sane, who is also training as he continues to recover from long-term injury but is yet to return to a matchday squad.
He did, however, play around an hour for the U23s at Arsenal last week.
“He’s getting better every week,” Guardiola said, before being prompted for whether Sane would return against Arsenal.
“He’s training. He’s not injured,” Guardiola explained.
“We are going to decide but he was ready weeks ago.
“I have many thoughts [on whether he will play]. All good thoughts.”
