Reports of Super Eagles forward, Akinkunmi Amoo, being sentenced to a jail term in Copenhagen, Denmark, have continued to elicit mixed reactions. Sports journalist, Tobi Samuel Adepoju, is the latest person to speak about the matter. Tobi Adepoju tweeted that he had a phone conversation with Amoo's elder brother who said the prison sentence is a false narrative created by the media.
He adds that Sunday Amoo, the elder brother to Nigeria's Super Eagles forward, says the player does not currently serve any travel ban and that he is not under any house arrest. The case, according to Akin's brother, is ongoing and the player is not permitted to speak to the press.

Ongoing Court Case, Appealing Hearing Set
There has been an ongoing court case where Akinkunmi Amoo is defending himself against sexual offences. A Danish newspaper, Estra Bladet, previously reported that the Super Eagles forward was accused of rape in a relationship and sexually violating two women.
According to the Danish press, a Copenhagen District Court through a dissenting magistrate, found the Super Eagles forward guilty of all counts. The Nigerian international who is contracted with FC Kopenhagen was reportedly shaken by the determination of his case.
The court handed Amoo a one-year unconditional jail term but according to his brother Sunday Amoo, the player's lawyer appealed the decision.
Amoo's charges were laid to a Copenhagen District Court in July and August of 2022. The misreporting of Amoo's criminal proceedings by the Nigeria press, according to his brother Sunday, is meant to tarnish the player's reputation. Amoo's brother argues that the Nigerian press should be at the forefront in defending the FC Kopenhagen player.
Akin Spent Almost a Month in Custody
When Amoo was accused of assaulting three women, Danish police swang into action to investigate the matter. He was later put in custody for almost a month in September 2022. However, he was later released on bail pending the determination of the charges in a District Court.
According to some Nigerian press, the outcome of the case is that the Super Eagles right-winger was handed an unconditional jail term, during which he is not permitted to be in Denmark for at least years after completing the jail sentence.
However, the elder brother of the accused says the reporting is false and that the case is blackmail. Sunday Amoo further says they will do everything in the appeal hearing to ensure Amoo does not serve the jail sentence.
Akinkunmi Amoo Under Contract with FC Kopenhagen
Akin currently plies his trade at FC Kopenhagen and is under contract until 31st December 2026.
Amoo joined the FC Kopenhagen on 31st January 2022 from the Swedish side, Hammarby IF at a fee of 4.4 million Euros. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old Super Eagles right-winger who also plays as an attacking midfielder has made only two appearances for FC Kopenhagen.
Akinkunmi Amoo's current market value is estimated to be around 1.8 million Euros by Transfermarkt.com, mostly due to inactivity. Akinkunmi Amoo was born in Ibadan on 7th June 2002 and made 10 appearances for the Nigeria U17 where he scored one goal in 10 appearances.
