La Liga president Javier Tebas has lashed out at The Court of Arbitration for Sport.
His anger stems from the decision to overturn Manchester City ’s two-year ban from European competition after UEFA’s club financial control body found them to have breached club licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations back in February.
UEFA’s club financial control body said that the club had overstated sponsorship revenue in information submitted to the association between 2012 and 2016.
No that CAS has lifted the suspension, Tebas, who has been in charge of the top flight in Spain since 2013, has called for a change in the appeal process.
He said: “We have to reassess whether the CAS is the appropriate body to which to appeal institutional decisions in football. Switzerland is a country with a great history of arbitration, the CAS is not up to standard.”
The full statement from City reads: “Whilst Manchester City and its legal advisors are yet to review the full ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the club welcomes the implications of today’s ruling as a validation of the club’s position and the body of evidence that it was able to present.
“The club wishes to thank the panel members for their diligence and the due process that they administered.”

The appeal was heard over three days last month and the outcome means that City, as well as Liverpool, have already qualified for next year’s competition.
