The city of Lagos will literary be at a standstill as the Super Eagles of Nigeria welcome their Liberian counterpart in today's 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
Gernot Rohr’s men will be looking to begin the series on a winning note before they travel four days to face Cape Verde.
Despite dropping in the August’s FIFA ranking, Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles are 34th in the latest world ranking with Peter Butler’s Lone Star men well down the pecking order at 150th and will be expected to offer too much for their West African neighbors with Nigeria on a 24 game unbeaten run on home territory.
The 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifying game between Nigeria-Liberia will be staged at the Teslim Balogun Stadium (Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria) with 5,000 fans set to be allowed to watch. Kick off is 17:00 (local time).
Super Eagles and Leicester City hitman, Kelechi Iheanacho has asserted that the team is fully focused and the mood in camp depicts they are ready for the 2022 World Cup qualifier against the Lone Star of Liberia today.
Iheanacho who had an excellent campaign with Leicester City last season told journalists that the players and coaches have done the needful and are hopeful for a positive outcome today against the Lone Stars.
“We are really focused on the game. The mood is good and everyone is ready and raring to go. We are happy and the camp is good,” Iheanacho noted.
“All the teams in our group are difficult. The game with Liberia is expected to be tough. We will need to concentrate on our own work and make sure we win and take each game as it comes.”
