Man City confirm Pep Guardiola’s Mother Dolors Sala Carrio Has Died From Coronavirus

Pep Guardiola's mother has died from coronavirus, Manchester City have confirmed.

The Premier League champions announced the sad news on Monday that Dolors Sala Carrio had passed at the age of 82 in Manresa, Barcelona.

It read: ‘The Manchester City family are devastated to report the death today of Pep's moth Dolors Sala Carrio in Manresa, Barcelona after contracting Corona Virus.

‘She was 82-years-old. Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends.' 

Here's the tribute City paid to their manager on social media: ‘Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends.'

Dolors was a former sales assistant and was married to Pep's father Valenti, a bricklayer.

The tragic news comes weeks after Guardiola himself made a generous donation of £920,000 (€1million) to help fight the coronavirus in Spain.

Guardiola is currently back at home in Barcelona following the outbreak, where he has been urging football fans to stay at home to reduce the spread of the deadly virus.
