The Brazilian side had the player on a loan deal from Envigado, and have just bought him permanently for US$3m.
That means they would make some immediate profit with the sale.
Still, Palmeiras chose to reject City’s bid, since they trust the player will be worth more in the future.
Manchester City’s offer ended up having some impact on the Colombian youngster.
The player has now been elevated to Palmeiras’ first-team squad, and should soon begin playing for the Brazilian side.
Jorge Nicola claims that Palmeiras director Alexandre Mattos was fascinated with Angulo when watching him on TV when Colombia were playing Brazil in the U20 South American championship.
Palmeiras signed him in January on a one-year loan contract, with a buying option which could be used until December.
