Man Utd In Talks With Barcelona Over Philippe Coutinho Switch

Manchester United have reportedly commenced talks with Barcelona over an eye-catching move for Philippe Coutinho.

The 26-year-old has only been with Barca a year having left Liverpool for the Nou Camp last January in a fee worth about £142m. But reports suggest he may possibly be on his way back to the Premier League with a host of clubs interested.

The Brazilian has struggled to have the same level of impact he had at Liverpool and has now lost his starting spot with Arturo Vidal and Ousmane Dembele preferred.

With Ernesto Valverde continuing to pick Dembele over Coutinho, there are suggestions he may call time on his short spell in Spain.

According to sources, United have made the first move for Coutinho and have opened talks with Barcelona to determine his availability.

It remains uncertain if Barcelona would consider cashing in on Coutinho but Caught Offside say any potential deal would cost in the region of £100m. Any possibility of the talented midfielder considering leaving for rival United would not go down well with Liverpool fans either following his five-year spell with the Merseyside outfit.

Coutinho's decision to ultimately force a move to the Nou Camp was not the ending he planned but he explained at the time of his departure his move was not fuelled by money.

“It's about the chance to play for Barcelona, to live in Barcelona.”
