In what could be one of his final matches for Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappe's brace was enough for PSG to spank Reims, just as Lionel Messi made his long-awaited debut for the French giants.
Mbappe who could become a Real Madrid player in a matter of days, dazzled in front of the PSG fans; with a strike in each half.
His first goal came in sixteen minutes with a header from close range after Angel Di Maria floated a ball into the box.
PSG completely had firm in their hands, the grip of the game but failed to wreak more havoc on Òscar Garcia's men.
Their lack of finesse in the final thirds nearly haunted them shortly after the break when Marshall Munetsi put the ball into PSG's net after poor goalkeeping from Keylor Navas.
The ball was dropped into the box and El Bilal Toure hit it towards goal. Navas fumbled the ball into Munetsi's path and he stuck it into the net.
However, after a VAR review, it showed that he was marginally offside and the goal was disallowed.
But, PSG began to attack with a renewed energy and they found their second goal through Achraf Hakimi's cross to the back post in the sixty-third minutes where Mbappe was once again waiting to convert.
And shortly after the second goal, Lionel Messi came off the bench to replace his long-term friend, Neymar.
The Argentina forward, who joined PSG from Barcelona on a two-year contract earlier this month, was invited to the game in the sixty-sixth minute for his first outing since winning the Copa America on July 10, as well as his first match for another club side in Europe.
The result means PSG have maintained their perfect Ligue 1 record this season and top the table with twelve points.
