Medeama SC have been drawn against Egyptian giants Al Ahly FC and two other top teams from Algeria and Tanzania in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

The draws for both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup was held in a ceremony which took place on Friday, 06 October 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Sixteen teams would take part in the 2023/24 edition of the CAF Champions League Group Stage and were drawn into four groups consisting of four teams each.

A few surprising names in the Champions League draw included Mauritania's FC Nouadhibou who shocked Real Bamako while Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana eliminated 1995 champions Orlando Pirates.

Medeama SC, the only Ghanaian representative in this year’s competition, will face perennial champions of the CAF Champions League, Ah Ahly who have won the competition 11 record times, Algerian heavyweight CR Belouizdad, and two-time group stage appearance makers Young Africans of Tanzania in Group D of the elite CAF Inter-club competition.

Medeama qualified for the group stage of the competition for the first time after eliminating Guinean giants Horoya AC in the second preliminary round. For the club, it is a step in the right direction who will now think towards making it out of the group and into the knockout phase.
