Mendy Injury Update Emerges After Chelsea Lose To Aston Villa

Mendy Injury Update Aston Villa

Chelsea could be without Edouard Mendy for next weekend’s Champions League final against Manchester City after the goalkeeper was forced off at half-time of Sunday’s match against Aston Villa.

Kepa Arrizabalaga replaced Mendy at half-time.

Thomas Tuchel confirmed after the match that Mendy has sustained a rib injury.

“It is easy to explain, he fell into the frame of the net,” Tuchel said in his post-match press conference.

“He feels a big pain in his ribs. We will have an update tomorrow with what is going on.

“We will see if it is possible [that Mendy will be fit for the Champions League] and if it is possible, we will push to do everything so he is in goal on Saturday.”

Chelsea are guaranteed to be in the Champions League next season – despite Sunday’s 2-1 loss at Villa Park.
