Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze, will play no part in Nigeria’s international friendly against Algeria next Tuesday.
The friendly against Algeria is billed for the Miloud Hadefi Stadium, Oran on Tuesday, September 27.
The regular pair have been replaced with Godwin Saviour and Rivers United’s Ebube Duru.
“We’re regrouping again for a friendly against Algeria on September 27, 2022. Quick update: Injured (Ruled out of the friendly): Musa, Chukwueze, Balogun, Onyekuru. Replacements: Ozornwafor, Godwin Saviour, Ebube Duru, Dennis.” as announced on the team’s official twitter account.
Musa, who made his first start for Sivasspor on Sunday in their 2-1 loss to Ankaragucu was replaced after 19th minutes by Clinton N’Jie after he fractured his arm in the encounter after stretching his left hand in a duel with a defender.
“Musa’s left arm was fractured and the treatment process has started immediately,” a statement on Sivasspor’s website reads.
Following injuries to Leon Balogun and Henry Onyekuru, Musa and Chukwu became the latest to pull out of the game on account of injuries.
18 Super Eagles players in training ahead of Algeria clash
Eighteen Super Eagles players were involved in the Super Eagles’ first training session in Constantine ahead of their clash against Algeria next Tuesday.
Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Raphael Onyedika, William Troost-Ekong, Kevin Akpoguma, Kenneth Omeruo, Chidozie Awaziem, Valentine Ozornwafor, Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi are all in camp already.
Others in involved are returning goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, Moses Simon, Taiwo Awoniyi, Chidera Ejuke, Cyriel Dessers, and Terem Moffi.
Still expected in camp are Francis Uzoho, Adeleye Adebayo, Ebube Duru, Godwin Saviour, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ademola Lookman.
With AFCON qualifiers shifted to 2023, the Super Eagles turned their attention to friendly games and will face Algeria, who were also beaten by Cameroon to the World Cup ticket.
