When the NPFL 2023/24 season started, the usual suspects were the defending champions (Enyimba), Champions League campaigners Remo Stars and Rivers United. Despite a couple of them still in the hunt for the league title, they have struggled to put up a consistent run of form.

Enyimba started the season slowly and was left behind by the rest of the pack due to their continental exertions, but they are back in the hunt for the title.

So, which team has the longest unbeaten run this season?

Doma United has the longest unbeaten run of the NPFL 2023/24 season. Are you surprised? The Gombe state-based team started the team on fire. Their form may have tailed off, but they hold the record for the longest unbeaten run.

They have a run of nine games unbeaten. It started with a 0-3 derby win over city rivals Gombe United in November 2023 and ended with Lobi Stars in December after a 2-1 loss.

Within that period, the Savannah Tigers beat Akwa United, Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Plateau (1-0). They also drew 0-0 away to Remo Stars and Kwara United, plus a 0-0 draw at home to Bendel Insurance.

Kano Pillars are behind Doma United. They had their six-game unbeaten run in the NPFL 2023/24 season truncated by Katsina United at the weekend.

Kano Pillars, who are also in the running for the NPFL title, had gone six games unbeaten following their 2-1win over Kwara United, Plateau United, Heartland, a 0-0 draw against Lobi Stars and a 5-1 win over Sunshine Stars brought to a halt after a 3-2 loss at Katsina United.

Katsina United are on a six-game unbeaten run. The Chanji Boys are unbeaten in their last six games, including a 2-0 win over Remo Stars, 2-1 at home to Enyimba and a 0-0 draw away to Niger Tornadoes.

Their last three games saw them beat Niger Tornadoes (1-0), Kano Pillars (3-2) and a 1-1 draw with Kwara United.

Others on the chart of longest unbeaten runs include Remo Stars, Enyimba and Enugu Rangers with five games.

Despite their nine-game unbeaten streak, Doma United managed just three wins at a stretch and is behind the team with the longest winning run.

The team with the longest winning streak title belongs to Enugu Rangers. The Flying Antelopes were momentarily at the top of the NPFL 2023/24 league table following their latest win – a 2-0 win away to Niger Tornadoes.

They have gone on a five-game winning streak and could extend it when they host Kwara United next weekend. In the reverse fixture, the Flying Antelopes picked a point in Ilorin in a 1-1 draw.

Other teams with three-game winning streaks include Remo Stars and Enyimba. Lobi Stars and Plateau United also have a three-game winning streak.

The following stats show how tough the NPFL 2023/24 title race is. It shows that any team that intends to win the title must consistently get good results, especially in their away games.
