Torino set to offer Aina new deal

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina is set to be offered a new deal at Serie A club Torino after a string of good performances.

According to Italian publication, Les Transferts, the club is willing to offer the Nigeria international a new two-year contract extension with an increase in his salary.

As mentioned in the publication as well, Torino’s top officials are keen to see the deal sorted out before the start of the World Cup next month.

Aina, who joined Torino in 2018 from Chelsea, initially on a loan deal, has continued to make an impact in Italy and that prompted the club to sign him on a permanent basis after an impressive debut campaign.

The versatile defender’s current contract expires in June next year, but the club have intensified their discussions with Aina and the Nigerian could commit his future to the Italian side until 2025, should talk between both parties go well.

“This is one of the hot issues that the Torino team would like to complete before the start of the World Cup in Qatar. The leaders of the Toro have intensified their discussions with their right side, Ola Aina,” the website wrote.

“Free next June, the 26-year-old has received a proposal from his management. This is a new two-year lease until June 2025 with a salary increase.

“Targeted by Italian and English clubs, the Nigerian international (29 caps) is making a solid start to the season with one goal in 10 Serie A league games.”

The 26-year-old defender has become an integral part of manager Ivan Jurić’s side, having featured in 10 Serie A games so far this season.

Aina scored his first goal of the 2022/23 season as Torino secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Udinese in a Serie A match staged at Dacia Arena (Udine) on Sunday.
