Gift Orban is the number one target for Tottenham Hotspur this summer after they lost the services of club captain and all time top scorer, Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

The Super Eagles hopeful is seen by many as one of the top prospects in European football in his position and at 21, he is set to become the top striker for the next decade for any club that wants his services.

Tottenham have already tried to acquire his services by making a bid worth €27 million for the player but his bid was rebuffed by KAA Gent as Tottenham’s transfer offer did not match the club’s valuation of the player.

Gent value the player at €30 million which means that Spurs are not too far away from securing his services. Orban already has dreams of playing Premier League football and the vacant striker spot at the North London club will provide a great opportunity for him to shine in his dream division.

Replacing Harry Kane is a huge task. When you consider what he means to the club from a sentimental and cultural aspect. He was their most beloved player for his tenure at the club and one of the five best strikers in the world during his time at the club.

Replacing a player whose fan base had a deep connection with will be very difficult and Orban would potentially have a huge task in their hands if he makes the transfer.

Kane vs Orban: How do both strikers compare at 21

Both players are obviously prolific scorers and at 21, Gift Orban has scored his fair share of hatrick goals in his career. At 21, Kane had just broken into the Spurs first team and had his breakout Premier League season but let’s see how both players stack up in terms of career goals at 21.

Harry Kane scored a total of 48 goals at 21 in 126 games played across five clubs. He had his best goal scoring season in 14/15 where he netted 29 goals and announced himself to the European stage as a future world beater.  He scored 0.38 goals per game in that time.

Orban on the other hand scored an incredible 44 goals in 50 games for two clubs with an average of  0.88 goals per game. It is clear to see that at 21, he is already a higher ranked prospect in terms of end product than Kane.

Stylistically he’s also a different player to Kane.

While Harry Kane is a striker whose strengths are in his physicality and ability to hold up the ball, play passes from deep and drop deep in order to help his teammates advance play, Orban is a more direct player who likes to run at the defense and provide a last line threat.

In terms of similarities, both players have great movement in the box and an ability to sniff out chances when they come. Both players also have fantastic ball striking abilities and are able to catch their defenders off guard with how quickly they take their shots.
