Orlando Pirates top goal scorers for 2023/24 season is beginning to take shape as players compete to finish as the team's top scorer this season.

Pirates began the 2023/24 season on 5 August 2023 in a Premier Soccer League match against Stellenbosch.

It was an unfortunate start for the South African giants in that they marked their first game of the campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Stellies without scoring.

However, the battle for Orlando Pirates top goal scorers this season unfolded, as far as goals are concerned, in the club's second game against Royal AM in the league.

Zakhele Lepasa scored Pirates' first goal this season in the 4-2 defeat of Royal AM to set the ball rolling in front of the opposition goalposts.

Competitions Orlando Pirates participated in this season

Aside the top-flight league, the Buccaneers competed in the CAF Champions League, the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout Cup.

At the time of writing, Pirates have been knocked out of the CAF Champions League in the second Round at the hands of Jwaneng Galaxy.

Nonetheless, Jose Riveiro's side were victorious in the MTN8, beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the finals on penalty shootouts after it ended goalless in 120 minutes.

Again, Pirates have also been knocked out of the Carling Knockout Cup at the quarterfinal stage at the hands of Richards Bay. This means the PSL is the only competition left for the Bucs to play this season.

So far, 11 players have scored for Orlando Pirates this campaign: Lepasa opened the scoring for the club in the PSL, MTN8 and the Champions League, while Tapelo Xoki scored Pirates' first goal in the Carling Knockout Cup.

Overall, Lepasa leads in the top scorer chart for Orlando Pirates on 10 goals, with the closest teammate Patrick Maswanganyi on 3 goals.

With the PSL only left to play for the Bucs, it'll be interesting to see how the top scorer table shapes up in the remaining months of the season.
