Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala paid tribute to late singer MohBad on Saturday after her club, Barcelona, defeated Granada 6-1 in the Spanish Liga F.
Oshoala, who has won the CAF African Player of the Year award five times, scored two goals in the second half and celebrated by showing off a shirt with MohBad’s face.
Meanwhile, she went ahead to share the picture of herself on the pitch on Instagram, with the caption, “Double for Imole ⚽⚽🫡… Keep resting young king 🙏🏽❤️ #LightBoy.”

Oshoala pays tribute – Who was Mohbad?
MohBad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba on June 8, 1996, in Lagos State, Nigeria, was a rapper, singer, and songwriter. His parents were Pastor Joseph Aloba and Mrs. Oladimeji.
In terms of education, MohBad completed his Primary and Secondary education in Lagos, obtaining his first school leaving and SSCE certificate.
MohBad, who was gradually gaining prominence in his young music career, passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023 in suspicious circumstances.
Having developed passion for music at a young age, MohBad worked as a carpenter to finance his early passion.
It took a while for him to be known in the mainstream music scene, but his musical journey to fame began when his unofficial track releases gained massive online reception and traction around the communities in Lagos.
After a bit of success on the local scene, he was signed to Marlian Music, founded by Naira Marley in 2019, and this led to a significant move for Mohbad’s musical career at the time.
Without any doubt, MohBad’s break into the consciousness of most Nigerian music lovers happened after his association with Marlian Music. “Ko Po Ke (KPK)” featuring Rexxie was the song that showcased his rise to prominence.
As a rising Nigerian music industry artist, MohBad was well-known for his unique style, Afrobeat and hip-hop. His fans loved him for his skill as a lyricist/songwriter.
First album, more hits and recognition
MohBad released his debut album, Light EP, in the fourth quarter of 2020 as a follow-up to his viral song “Ponmo,” which featured Naira Marley and Lil Kesh.
Throughout his musical journey, MohBad has dropped a series of hit singles, including tracks like “Oja,” “Adura,” “Balan Zia Gar,” “Koma Jesun,” “Overhype,” and “Imole”. Notably, he’s teamed up with renowned artists such as Zlatan Ibile, Lil Kesh, Oladips, Small Doctor, Bella Shmurda, Lil Frosh, and many others.
The talented musician was nominated 5 times for The Beatz Awards 2021 and got listed in Audiomack’s top 21 Afrobeat artists of 2021.
Legal troubles and untimely death
In February 2022, he faced legal troubles with the NDLEA due to possession of illegal substances. During the course of the drug issue, Mohbad opted to leave Marlian Music in 2022 over unpaid royalties.
Later, he made allegations of domestic violence against Naira Marley, raising suspicions about his untimely demise in September 2023.
According to reports, MohBad took a trip to the hospital in the early hours of today Tuesday, September 12, 2023 for treatment, after which he was given an injection. Unfortunately, MohBad passed out after the injection and failed to wake up.
He was widely mourned by young Nigerian music lovers for weeks, while his fame grew exponentially across the country and beyond.

As at the time of writing this article, the Nigerian police force has instituted a special panel to investigate his untimely death with no conclusion reached yet.
