Joseph Yobo was announced as the Super Eagles assistant manager in February and the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has come out to state the reason behind the decision.
The former Olympique Marseille star replaced Imama Amapakabo but his appointment was met with criticism as he does not have a coaching qualification.
However, the NFF boss has come out to defend the appointment, saying Yobo’s illustrious career makes him the perfect choice for the job.
‘’What more do you need? He was captain of the Super Eagles, he was captain of Everton, he played football at the highest level, went to two or three world cups, went to Nation’s cup, won the Nation’s Cup,” Pinnick said of the former Everton star in an interview with Lagos 91.3FM with quotes gotten via reelradio
‘’Yobo is super qualified we don’t have any regret about it and the future will tell because I know exactly what I am saying.
