Some sensational players have played in South Africa over the years, with several emerging as the PSL top goal scorer in a season.
The top ten PSL top goal scorer in a season cut across four nationalities. All of them come from the southern part of the continent.
As exciting as the PSL is, no player has ever hit the 30-goal mark in a season, with the record being held by former Zambian international Collins Mbesuma at 25 goals.
The other players to win the PSL top goal scorer in a season come from Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, with the host nation producing five players in the top ten.
Zambia and Zimbabwe share two slots, with Namibia one.

The top ten PSL top goal scorers in one season
The Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot is an annual award by the PSL to the leading goalscorer in the South African Premier Division.
Zimbabwe's Wilfred Mugeyi (Bush Bucks) won the first Golden Boot award in the 1996–97 PSL season with 22.
It was a benchmark that took seven years before it was broken. Zambia's Collins Mbesuma tore the record to shreds in the 2004-05 PSL season with 25 goals.
The goals helped Kaizer Chiefs to win the PSL that year.

The closest any player came to upsetting the record was in the 2021–22 season when Mamelodi Sundowns' Peter Shalulile scored 23 goals to help the Brazilians win the PSL.
Other players that hit the 20-goal mark are Pollen Ndlanya (Kaizer Chiefs – 1998–99) with 21 goals and Siyabonga Nomvethe (Moroka Swallows – 2011–12) with 20.
PSL top goal scorer in a season by club
Which club has produced the most PSL Top goal Scorer in a season? Many would expect the award to go to the PSL heavyweights.
Well, that's how the cookie crumbles. The big clubs get the best players who score the most goals, but sometimes smaller teams perform wonders that lead to the heavyweights snapping them up.
Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows have produced four PSL top scorers in a season.
Orlando Pirates and Manning Rangers have three, while Cape Town City have two.
Ndlanya headlines the 16 South Africans who have won the award with Nomvethe. He is the South African with the most goals in a PSL season, with 21.
The 2023/24 season sees Khanyisa Mayo (Cape Town City FC), Bradley Grobler (SuperSport United) and Tshegofatso Mabasa (Moroka Swallows) atop the scorers chart with six goals each.
