The Gers suffered a major setback in their attacking numbers as Alfredo Morelos made his decision to leave the club on a free transfer. The Colombian striker was a fan favorite at the Ibrox as he was a constant source of goalscoring for the club but his spell at the club ended on a negative note. With Morelos departing the club, Rangers turned their attention to Cremonese forward, Cyriel Dessers as his replacement.
The Super Eagles international striker has long been admired by Rangers manager, Micheal Beale, who had previously scouted him and would like to have him as one of his striking options for the new season.
At this moment, talks between the two clubs are said to be at a very advanced stage according to reports and Rangers are getting closer to getting their man. Both clubs had held talks before as Rangers had their opening bid for the striker rejected but are hopeful that their new offer will Convince the Italian side to make a sale.

Cremonese shelled out €6 million to purchase the striker last summer from Belgian side, KRC Genk and will be looking to recoup the money they paid for the 28-year-old a year ago now that they have been relegated to Serie B.
The current bid that Rangers made for Dessers is worth around €4.2 million with €1 million in bonuses and the Scottish side are confident that they can get a deal done.
Rangers looking to strengthen frontline
Rangers currently possess the likes of Antonio Cholak and Fashion Skala in his ranks as the striker options in the squad at the moment but the club feels like adding more firepower to their ranks if they are to beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership in the 2023/2024 season.
The Cremonese man is considered one of the options at center forward that will strengthen the team and create a healthy competition between the attacking unit.
Last season Dessers scored nine goals in 29 League games for both Genk and Cremonese (he played three games for Genk before moving on to italy) in a season that was disrupted by injury but his qualities as a player are obvious. Dessers was the top scorer in the UEFA Europa Conference League last season during his loan spell at Feyenoord and has also been the top scorer in the Eredivisie in the past.
A move to a top team like Rangers means that he will play for a team competing for trophies again. Rangers scored 93 goals in the Scottish Premiership last season and were the second highest scorers in the division. This shows their ability to create lots of chances and Dessers will surely thrive in such an environment.
Dessers is not the only striker target they are after as they are looking to bring in more strikers even after the deal for the Super Eagles international is done.
