Taiwo Awoniyi's one goal wasn't enough to help his Union Berlin side escape defeat in the hands of Dutch clubside, Feyenoord during their UEFA Europa Conference League clash on Thursday.

The Iron Ones were beaten 3-1 by Feyenoord at the Station Feijenoord, Rotterdam having gone two goals down in the first thirty minutes with goals from Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Brian Linssen but it was Awoniyi who got on the score-sheet for Union Berlin with ten minutes left to play before half time.

The Nigerian international was replaced in the sixty-sixth minute as the German side continued to search for an equalizer. Their hope was dashed ten minutes after the exit of Awoniyi from the game.

Union Berlin ended up conceding in the seventy-sixth minute, and the goal came from Luis Sinisterra.

Awoniyi has now scored two goals from three appearances for Union Berlin in the maiden European competition this season and has recorded ten goals and registered two assists for Union Berlin across all competitions this term.
