UEFA Europa League: Iheanacho, Moses shines in Leicester Spartak Moscow clash

Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho and his former teammate in the Super Eagles who plays for Spartak Moscow, Victor Moses, registered two assists each for their clubsides as The Foxes edged Spartak Moscow 4-3 in their UEFA Europa League clash on Wednesday.

Even though Leicester's Patson Daka stole the show after scoring a quadruple, the Nigerian pair were outstanding as well for the two teams on display.

The Russian giants, Spartak Moscow, got the lead after eleven minutes through Alexander Sobolev before Victor Moses assisted for Spartak's second with a minute left before half time to give The Gladiators a two goal lead.

His fellow countryman, Kelechi Iheanacho, ensured that the deficit was reduced before half time when he played an inch-perfect pass to Daka who in turn fired home from close range at the death of the first half.

The 25-year old Kelechi Iheanacho then ensured Leicester got back fast into the game early in the second half has he yet again assisted Patson Daka’s second of the evening.

Leicester went ahead for the first time in the evening when Patson Daka bagged his hat-trick in the fifty-forth minute, making it three unreplied goals in just eight minutes of the second half.

This time, Daka's third came off a beautiful pass from Youri Tielemans and Zambian forward did well to slot into the legs of the Spartak Moscow's goalkeeper.

Daka got his fourth of the day when he curled in James Maddison's through ball to wrap up a massive turnaround for the visitors with ten minutes from time.

Victor Moses gave Spartak Moscow a lifeline in the 86th minute when he assisted Aleksandr Sobolev for his brace of the evening but Leicester held on till the end for their first win of the campaign.

The win has fired Leicester ahead of the Russians in the Group standings. With four points, Rodgers' Leicester are second, one more than their rival on the evening in third and two points adrift the Group C leaders, Napoli who welcomes Legia Warsaw later on Thursday.
