Victor Boniface’s breakthrough season in numbers

Boniface has been on fire since making the move to Germany in the summer.

He was explosive with Union last season in the Europa League and won the Europa League Golden Boot award for the 2022-23 campaign before completing a move to the German Bundesliga in a transfer worth €20m plus add-ons.

Following his rising profile in one of Europe’s top five leagues, Boniface has remained a transfer target for a number of teams less than six months into his Leverkusen career.

In 12 Bundesliga matches, Boniface has scored 7 goals and provided five assists for Leverkusen. He is also leading his side’s charge for the Bundesliga title as they currently stay top of the pack.

In the Europa League, he has three goals in four games, while he has scored just once in the DFB Pokal, and it came in his only appearance.

By virtue of his incredible impact, Boniface has been named the Bundesliga Rookie Player of the Month for August, September, and October.

On the international scene, Boniface’s exploits have been rewarded by Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, who gave him his debut in October and he has featured in every game for the Super Eagles since then.
