Fans across the world are eagerly anticipating the 2023/24 English Premier League season, which kicks off in less than a month. However, it may interest you to know that some Premier League teams will feature in a pre-season friendly tournament later this month.

Much like the Premier League Asia Trophy, this event is one of two Premier League-affiliated competitions that will be hosted outside the United Kingdom. The matches will take place on different cities across the United States, with six Premier League teams playing three matches each.

Premier League Summer Series teams

Although this tournament will exclusively feature teams that ply their trade in the English Premier League, it's worth mentioning that not all PL teams will participate at this year's event. As a matter of fact, a total of six teams will play in the first edition of this competition, and these are: Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Chelsea, Fulham and Newcastle.

Which players are expected to feature in the Premier League Summer Series?

With these teams in mind, these are some of the players we should expect to see at this competition.

Frank Onyeka

The 25 year old played 21 Premier League matches for Brentford last season, notching two assists; he has 11 appearances for the Super Eagles, including three caps at the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Tariq Lamptey

Born in England to Ghanaian parents, Tariq Lamptey represented all of England's youth teams, but opted to play for Ghana's national team. The 22 year old defender has four appearances for the Black Stars so far, including at the FIFA World Cup last year. He featured in 20 Premier League matches for Brighton & Hove Albion last season, starting three games.

Noni Madueke and Carney Chukwuemeka

To be fair, Noni Madueke and Carney Chukwuemeka have both represented England at the youth level. However, the Chelsea pair are also eligible to play for Nigeria, being of Igbo descent. Interestingly, Madueke just won the UEFA U21 Championship with England this month; he started seven games for Chelsea last season, scoring once.

PL Summer Series schedule

As previously mentioned, each team will get to play three matches at this event. Also, although this competition kicks off on Saturday July 22 in the US, it officially kick-starts on Sunday July 23 in Nigeria. It's important to point out that all kick-off times are in BST (British Summer Time)
