The 2023 COSAFA Women's Cup will see Banyana Banyana attempt to win an eight title and a first in two editions.

The tournament is held from 4 – 15 October in South Africa. Banyana Banyana are in Group A and are one game away from dropping down into third place.

Banyana Banyana in COSAFA Women's Cup: A brief history

Banyana Banyana are the record winners of the COSAFA Women's Cup. The competition was started by the Confederation of Southern African Football Associations to help promote women's football in their regions and also help their women warm up for continental and international outings.

The South Africa women's national football team won the first edition which was hosted in 2002 by Zimbabwe, then won the next two after that. Zimbabwe halted their run before they picked up again to win the next four editions. Banyana Banyana last won the tournament in 2020 and will now be looking to add to their tally. Their first hurdle in the 2023 edition is getting out of a group that has Eswatini, Madagascar and Malawi.
