Akor Adams goals this season – full list

Off the back of an impressive spell with Norwegian outfit Lillestrom, which saw him score 15 times in as many league matches, Akor Adams announced himself on the scene of European football last season.

This earned him a €4.5 million move to Montpellier during the last summer window and the Nigerian striker has wasted no time in delivering the goods for his new employers.

No player in Ligue 1 has scored more times from open play than Akor Adams this term, while only Kylian Mbappe boasts more goals overall.

Since participating in the group stages of the 2012/13 Champions League as a result of winning Ligue 1 the previous season, Montpellier have not participated in any European competition, but that could be set to change this term.

Akor Adams netted a brace on his debut to earn his side a 2-2 draw against Le Havre before scoring the clincher in Montpellier's most impressive campaign win so far – a 4-1 thrashing of Olympique Lyon back in August.

His double against Lorient last time out fired Montpellier to all three points which saw them move up into 10th place in the Ligue 1 table.

As of today, Montpellier are just two points adrift of Stade Rennes in the race for the final European berth, and Akor Adams, goals could prove crucial if they are to end an 11-year wait for a return to continental action.

Despite all of his goalscoring exploits, Akor Adams has yet to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, let alone find the back of the net.

However, the 23-year-old is keeping his feet on the ground and will continue to put in the work until his opportunity comes.

“I will work hard and do my best to progress every week, in order to be able to play in the Champions League but also play in the national team and compete in the World Cup,” Adams told the media

“For now, I have to give everything for Montpellier.”

Provided Akor Adams continues his upward trajectory from the last couple of months, a maiden call-up to the Super Eagles will most definitely arrive sooner rather than later.
