Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has claimed Willian ‘changed the game' against Benfica – but not all Gunners fans agreed.
Willian came off the bench with the Gunners 2-1 down, and had an immediate impact, setting up Kieran Tierney to slam home the equaliser.
Arsenal won the tie late on, with Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang's second goal of the game earning a 4-3 aggregate victory and a place in the last 16 of the Europa League.
And afterwards, Gunners boss Arteta hailed Willian's contribution.
“I think he changed the game,” said the manager. “He gave us much more composure in moments, produced some creativity, produced the goal for Kieran, and we need everybody on board.”
Willian has struggled to win over the fans since arriving at the Emirates on a free transfer in last summer's transfer window.
But some fans on Twitter agreed with Arteta's assessment after the former Chelsea winger notched his first assist since November in Thursday's win.
