NPFL Suspended Indefinitely Over Coronavirus

The League Management Company [LMC] has announced the suspension of the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League until further notice in line with global health preventive protocol against the Corona Virus Disease (COVID 19).

Recall that GoalBall had earlier reported that there were fillers indicating that the NPFL could be suspended after the Federal Ministry of Health in Nigeria on Wednesday confirmed five fresh cases of the deadly coronavirus.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire confirmed the cases during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He explained that three of the victims came from the United States of America including a mother and child while two others also from the US, an American who came via the nation’s land border.

In suspending remaining league matches, the League Management Company (LMC) said it would review it.

A total of 25 games had been played this season with 13 more to go before the suspension was announced.
