Manchester City Look to Make History
For Manchester City, they have the opportunity to write their names in the annals of history. They have already won the English Premier League as well as the FA Cup and now, the UEFA Champions League trophy is in their sights. If they are successful on Saturday, they will win their first ever Champions League trophy as well as become the second ever English club to win a historic treble.
They head into Saturday’s final as the favorites to win the trophy, but they have been in this position before. They were the favorites to win it in 2021 when they faced off against Chelsea but they failed on the biggest stage.
They will feel like they are a better team than they were two years ago and are better equipped for this stage due to the failures they have experienced in the past to get to this point. Their trashing of Real Madrid in the Semifinal could be as big a sign as any that they have grown. Football fans in Nigeria will also have the opportunity to watch City live on TV come Saturday.
Inter Aiming to Become UCL Kings After 13 Years
What Manchester City are looking to accomplish this season, Internazionale have been there and done it. In fact, the last time they won the UEFA Champions League, it was during a historic treble winning season under Jose Mourinho in 2009/2010.
Since then, Inter have experienced a turbulent decade with a lot of lows but they have managed to claw their way back up to the top of the mountain. Now they are only a game away from European glory, but they will be going into this match as underdogs.
Only a few fans that are not of the Inter persuasion believe that the Nerazzurri will leave Istanbul with the big ears but they are in the final because they worked hard to get there and will play only to win, regardless of the odds.
With the Coppa Italia title in the bag, they have a chance to win their second trophy of the season.
Inter Milan do have a Nigerian in their ranks – Ebenezer Akinsanmiro – and that could be some motivation for neutral football fans in the country to watch the event on TV and hope that the Italians come out on top.
